Aquí Está Coco

La Concepción 236 Cuisines: Seafood

About

Aquí Está Coco, which means "Here's Coco," is named for the restaurant owner, Jaime "Coco" Pacheco. He's a world-traveled food lover and kitch-picker-upper who has filled his popular restaurant, located in a more-than-a-century-old home in Providencia with various items from his travels, for a kitchy-yet-clean environment, which makes for a fun place to eat. And it's not just the environment that's one-of-a-kind. The seafood is fresh, with some of the broadest offerings in Chile, with fish sourced from the north to the south of Chile, including the Juan Fernandez archipelago and Easter Island, with both fish and seafood figuring high on the list. It's also one of not many places in Santiago where you can get centolla, or king crab (fished from Patagonia). Here it shows up as a dish on its own, and as a stuffing for trout. The restaurant is very foreigner-friendly, with a well-translated menu in English, and the kind of service international travelers tend to expect. A good wine list and meat items complete the menu at Aquí Está Coco.
