Since opening in 1977, Arts Centre Melbourne has established itself as Melbourne's home of the performing arts. The beautiful Arts Centre complex is the feature point of the Southbank arts and culture precinct, easily identified by its iconic spire which lights up the city at night. The Centre is open daily, hosting a diverse range of quality local and international performances throughout the year, as well as offering visitors other activities including guided tours, exhibitions, a weekly Sunday arts and craft market and a restaurant and cafe. Arts Centre Guided Tours Discover more about the Arts Centre's unique contribution to Melbourne's arts and cultural history by joining one of the Arts Centre's Guided Tours. The tours explore the history of the centre's performance spaces, giving an in depth overview of the design of this extraordinary building as well as some of the wonderful anecdotes which have occurred at the centre during its history. Guided tours depart from the Theatres Building Information Desk (St Kilda Road Level). Monday - Saturday at 11am or you can join one of our Backstage Tours every Sunday at 12.15pm* (*Please note children under 12 are not permitted) The Arts Centre Sunday Market The Arts Centre Sunday Market brings together over 80 of Victoria's finest artisans, right in the heart of Melbourne. Every Sunday from 10am, local artists and producers fill the Arts Centre Lawn to showcase a variety of unique, handmade goods ranging from arts and crafts to freshly made delicacies. Everything on offer at the Arts Centre Sunday Market is made locally, making the market a real favourite for those seeking one-of-a-kind treasures for themselves or as gifts.
