Ignore the jokey name: This large-windowed establishment is the most handsome eatery in Saint John with its attractive interior fronting King's Square and a mild European-moderne look. Service is cordial and efficient, and the meals are among the best in the city. Lunch includes soups, salads, omelets, curry wraps, and elaborate gourmet sandwiches (but the simple grilled fish sandwich isn't bad, either). Critics have praised the lamb dinner entree, the preparation of which varies nightly according to the chef's desire; the house curry dish is also recommended, as are the chicken parmigiana, the schnitzel served with spaetzle, the steaks, the fish, and a pepper-chicken dish of the restaurant's creation. When dessert time rolls around, be aware that both the butterscotch pie and the lemon chess pie have large local followings.
