Beyazıt Camii

Istanbul, Turkey

About

Termed as one of the oldest Ottoman mosques in Istanbul, Beyazit Camii stands in the center of the Beyazit complex. It dates back to 15th century and is the only surviving mosque belonging to the Beyazit era. Though the building is ancient, its importance lies in that fact that it reflects the quality craftsmanship and artwork of the ancient times. The classic dome structure, the minarets, stained glasses used in the structure and the kufic painted ceiling, add an element of completeness to the structure. After touring the site, do not forget to take a walk down the nearby Bazaar districts and buy some souvenirs to take home.
