About

The Biarritz just misses out on a marvelous view of the Danube as several buildings block the vision of the river. However, the atmosphere is provided by the number two tram which rumbles past every 15 minutes or so. The venue is popular with politicians, as the 'White House' (Parliamentary offices) and the Parliament building itself stand on either side of this Mediterranean bistro. The decor inside is contemporary and cheerful, with warm yellow lighting under brass chandeliers, which have a touch of verdigris. The peach-coloured walls are edged in green matching the laminated tables which look like they come from a diner. In summer, the terrace is the best place to be, as the trams give off no fumes and you can enjoy the night air. The menu consists of light Mediterranean dishes, which vary according to season. Choose from lamb slices with prosciutto and tarragon, grilled scampi, veal cutlet with lemon butter or chicken ragout with mushrooms. The Caprese salad with mozzarella and tomato and French onion soup make good starters. Wines are moderately priced, and there is good Tiramisu too.
