French Bistro cuisine is taken up a notch with Bistro 42. The menu features some decadent and delectable modern bistro dishes such as melted goat's cheese on toasted brioche with hazelnuts and honey; pear and avocado salad, coq au vin (nicely seasoned stew half a chicken with shallots, mushrooms, smoky beef bacon and ciabatta chunks), scallop and prawn omelet with lobster bisque sauce; baked orecchiette with lamb meatballs, sausages, Mediterranean spices and fresh mascarpone, feta and mozzarella. Desserts are just as innovative â find spiced pineapple tart with gingerbread ice cream and Pavlova with maroon ribbons encasing Ferrero Roche candy simply irresistible. The interior has been created to invoke an intimate Parisian café complete with dark wood paneling, lilac banquettes and marble tables. Right outside, is the garden space â sip evening cocktails here or savor afternoon tea of scones, pastries and desserts soothed by the sounds of the baby grand piano. You'd forget the restaurant, with all its nice touches, is actually located within a shopping mall.
