Bondi Junction is a largely commercial area which has undergone many changes since the late 20th century. There have been many major commercial and residential developments around the main street and surrounding area. Grace Brothers opened a large department store on the site of a former picture theater on Oxford Street in 1939 in Bondi Junction. a larger shopping center was built by AMP. This shopping centre, called Bondi Junction Plaza opened in 1976 and included a David Jones department store. Westfield Bondi Junction is built on land that was originally occupied by three separate retail establishments.There are many shops and shopping centers in Bondi junction.
