Just off Midan Saad Zagloul, this is an updated version of the classic Alexandrian coffee shop. Renovated with new fittings and modern colors, it still has much of the atmosphere of the old places. Better yet, it serves a proper espresso and cappuccino. There's seating upstairs, but I prefer to stand downstairs and watch the coffee roasting and the people stopping in and walking by. In the morning, it has toast and pâté, as well as croissants, and later in the day it offers pastries.
