BRT Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the south of Karnataka, sprawls across an area of 540 sq. km. Better known as Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary, this sanctuary is situated between the Cauvery and Tungabhadra rivers. BRT wildlife sanctuary is characteristic of an astonishing avian fauna of 225 species of birds. Racquet-tailed drongo, whistling thrush, crested hawk eagle and yellow throated bulbul are some of the birds commonly spotted in the range. Others include large Indian parakeet, hill myna, crested serpent eagle and chestnut-bellied nuthatch. Flora of the region comprises dry scrub, deciduous, savanna, evergreen and grassland vegetation.
