Today the once grand mansions belonging to the Mousayyof and Samuiloff families have lost their luster, but the neighborhood itself is still a window into the 19th century. Narrow streets dotted with small synagogues; some of the best bakeries and felafel vendors are tucked into the neighborhood, and the people-watching is almost unmatched.
