About

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is located in Bunratty, Co. Clare, a mere 15 minute drive from Limerick City. A popular tourist attraction, the folk park contains carefully reconstructed examples of historical Irish buildings such as farmers cottages, a 'big house' as manors in Ireland are known, which contains a fine selection of vintage farm machinery as well as various other types of Irish buildings from a traditional school house to a water driven mill. Amongst these fascinating examples of Irish heritage, the visitor can also partake of traditional boiled sweets, or enjoy a pint in the traditional Irish pub. The park provides guided multilingual tours of both the park and the castle. The castle itself is one of the finest examples of an Irish keep, and the world famous Bunratty feast, whilst not inexpensive, is truly a wonderful experience. Seat yourself at one of the many wooden benches and tables in the great hall and enjoy such delicacies as spit roasted pork, or sample the traditional Irish drink known as mead, a honey based liquor which is a real eye opener. All in all a day at Bunratty is a fascinating, educational and fun filled experience which is guaranteed to delight the hearts of travellers both young and old!
