A caldo is a type of thick, hearty soup, and this simple pavement spot specialises in this most simple but delicious of soups, as well as serving bar snacks and bottled beer served estupidamente gelado (stupidly cold, which is what Rio whether dictates). The pea soup is good, although vegetarians aren't in safe territory here thanks to meat stock and chunks of ham; while the mocoto which involves cow hooves, is a local favorite and a hit with adventurous eaters.
