The Chatham Government Saw Mill, established in 1883 is Asia's largest and oldest saw mill. It is Separate Island connected with Port Blair by road on bridge. This mill has two biggest cranes called EOT cranes which are used for both stacking and feeding. Wood workshop of this mill is worth visiting. This saw mill functions as a store house of timber like Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, Satine wood etc. One of the most interesting places to see in Port Blair. The area boast of a Bomb Pit, Japanese Bunker & Saw mill. One can experience the process of wood cutting and the various stages involved in the process.
