Cheung Chau Windsurfing Centre

Cheung Chau

About

On the east coast of Cheung Chau's narrow isthmus, perched on a rocky outcrop between Tung Wan and Kwun Yam Wan beaches, sits the top-notch Cheung Chau Windsurfing Centre. The centre is run by the uncle of former world champion and Olympic gold medal winner Lee Lai-Shan, and it's where she developed her windsurfing skills as a young woman. It has qualified instructors, great facilities, and a good range of equipment. Windsurfers or kayaks can be hired, or water babies can book one of the centre's instructors for a lesson. After a work-out on the water, batteries can be recharged with a lime soda and chips or a glass of chilled white and a selection of tapas at the breezy, chilled seaside café. - Jen Wight
