Chez Pétrelle

34, rue Pétrelle Cuisines: French

About

This tiny restaurant is wonderfully cluttered and dim, awash in tarnished mirrors, crumbling dried flowers, books and other bric-a-brac. Glass chandeliers with real candles descend from the ceiling, and a large fresco with huge cracks adorns a wall. It sounds chaotic, but it's actually homey and intimate – perfect for a romantic evening. The cuisine here is largely old-school French, with dishes such as ravioli de canard, agneau au lait des Pyrenees, and roasted pigeon gracing the menu. If you love this restaurant, you'll be in good company – Parisians adore it, and it's a supposed favorite of Madonna and Christian LaCroix.
