Chiang Rai Handicrafts Center

Paholyothin Rd

About

This is the largest of the hill-tribe shops, with a huge selection of well-finished merchandise, an adjoining factory, a good reputation for airmail shipping, and a helpful sales staff that passes out hot tea to wilting shoppers. Aisle after aisle of newly made celadon and ceramics, textiles, pillow covers and table linens, carved woodwork, jewelry, and Thai handicrafts from other regions are sold at reasonable prices. The center is 4km (2.5 miles) north of town on the superhighway; call ahead for a free pickup.
