About

A living part of Melbourne's modern Chinatown, the Chinese Museum documents, preserves and displays the history of Chinese Immigration to Australia. An exciting range of changing exhibitions and heritage tours are used to illustrate the past, culture and values of Australia's Chinese community. The Museum is home to Dai Loong and the Millennium Dragon, the largest Chinese dragon in the world. The Chinatown Visitor Centre provides an orientation to Melbourne's Chinatown. You can take a self-guided tour of Chinatown or a personally guided Chinatown tour for groups of more than twelve people. Chinatown extends along Little Bourke Street between Swanston and Exhibition Streets. The Chinatown Visitor Centre features displays of historic streetscapes of Chinatown dating back to the 1850s. The museum shop has an exotic range of Chinese souvenirs, homewares and gifts.
