The Church of the True Light was completed in 1952, and considered a full-fledged Anglican Church in 1963. Its a quiet place of contemplation set amid the hustle and bustle of teeming Little India. The architecture of the building reflects strong Chinese influences and reflects the Church's roots as its early members came mostly from the trishaw riders who lived and worked in the vicinity. The church catered to their needs by offering free medical care and a kindergarten.
