About

The newest museum to grace Buenos Aires, this gleaming low-rise structure hugs the banks of Puerto Madero and houses the private collection of Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat. It's best to look at it as the female version of the MALBA, started by a male real-estate mogul, but this time it's a grande dame, Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat, something of an Argentine Brooke Astor who opened this airy museum in October 2008. The museum contains an enormous collection of Argentine artists, as well as works by Warhol, Dalí, Chagall, the Breughels, and other well-known painters, as well as a collection of ancient art. Many of the paintings are of Amalia when she was a young, stunning beauty.
