Comme il Faut Café

Tel Aviv Port Cuisines: European

About

Another quintessential Tel Aviv Port eatery with a terrace by the sea, Comme il Faut maintains a somewhat calm air, even on frenzied weekend summer nights, and a delicious but healthy menu. It's the concept of the owners of a Tel Aviv fashion-design house of the same name (a showroom is in the spacious, adjacent section of the cafe's wooden pavilion). There are small, medium, and large dishes; each menu size is completely different. Small includes open sandwiches such as goat cheese with antipasti and zataar pesto, or chicken breast with avocado and roquette leaves. The changing medium menu might include seafood skewer on a chickpea crepe with parsley, green techina, and tomato salad; or grilled prawns with black lentils and yogurt sauce. The large menu might feature an oven-baked catch of the day with couscous salad, or curried vegetable casserole with wild rice. There are also enormous courses for two, such as a grilled seafood banquet, or a pot of moules marinière (mussels) with fresh-baked potato chips. Desserts are healthy and exquisite; there are 11 fresh-squeezed designer-fruit creations, including carrot with coconut milk and coriander; and a zingy apple, fennel, and ginger.
