Dhabaleswar  or  Dhabaleshwar Island  is a picturesque sightseeing spot, which is situated on the Mahanadhi river. Besides, scenic beauty the island has a major tourist attraction, which is the famous Dhabaleshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the top of a hillock and to reach the spot pilgrims have to climb up a 100 stairs. The temple is not only famous for the religious significance but also its historical importance. Sculptures' dating back to the 10th century A.D. demonstrates the antiquity of the temple.Situated 35 km from Cuttack, Dhabaleswar is a small island on the Mahanadi River in Orissa. The magnificent white Shiva temple, perched on a hillock, is the landmark. Sculptures from the 10th and 11th centuries are found in these premises.
