About

The name Eala Bhán is gaelic for “White Swan”. These beautiful birds can often be seen from the two main windows of the restaurant and often frequent the beautiful stretch of the Garavogue river that runs alongside the restaurant.Eala Bhán offers a menu that lives and breathes right along with its seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. All of the local seafood is hand-selected and artistically prepared to perfection. All of the steak cuts stand tall with the superb flavour of aged beef that is cooked to your liking. Lucinda O’Sullivan (author of The little black book of great places to stay and eat) quoted: “Some people just have the knack of getting things right and that can certainly be said of the team behind Eala Bhan. Anthony & Eilish Gray have long since put Tra Ban in Strandhill, Co. Sligo on the culinary map of Ireland."Opening their second restaurant, Eala Bhan in the heart of Sligo town. The décor here has a cool urban brasserie bistro feel with dark wood floors, subtle lighting, well spaced tables, and it is a place in which there is always a buzz. The food too is classic with a contemporary twist and offers everything you could possibly want; beautifully cooked viands to cracking seafood.Head chef Seamus Thompson must also be credited in his own right for the continued success of Eala Bhan. Some of his wonderful creations include a starter of pan seared scallops, served in a cool contemporary way in a line resting on a bed of spiced carrot puree, tweaked with micro greens and parsnip crisps.Check out Eala Bhan – its a Great Place to Eat!!Despite only being open since Nov 2011, Eala Bhan has won numerous prestigious awards including:Best Chef and Best Restaurant Sligo (Irish Restaurant Awards 2013), Best Restaurant Connaught (Good Eating Guide 2013), Lucinda O’ Sullivan 2012 Great Place to Eat, Paolo Tullios Taste of Ireland Award 2012, Best Overall Restaurant (So Sligo Food Festival 2012).
