A great place for a meat feast especially for those who like Tandoori food (as the name suggests), Earthen Oven sits at the top of Hotel Fortune Landmark with views of the bustling Ashram Road, and you can also glimpse the Sabarmati riverfront if you come early. House specialities include Benami Murgh Kebab which has Chicken Tikka coated with minced mutton and chicken and a cheesy paste, Sikandari Raan, Ajwaini Fish Tikka, Murgh Tangdi Kalimirch, Murgh Malai, Earthen Oven Tandoori Murgh, Amritsar-style Bhatti Di Chaanp, Kallan Kebab and Earthen Oven Seekh Kebab, or you can get their assorted kebabs. For vegetarians, there are takes on paneer, chickpea and potato, while Jains can start with Paneer Ranghmahel (paneer marinated in hung curd, and made without onion and garlic). The shorbas and chaats are not bad. For the mains, the Junglee Maas and Nali Gosht are must-haves for those who like mutton. For vegetarians, Pindi Chana, Dum Aloo Kashmiri-style, Subz Panchmel, Baby Corn Mushroom Palak, Methi Malai Mutter, Paneer Mussallam, Paneer Butter Masala and Paneer Khurchan are popular mains but the highlight is the Earthen Oven Dal which is the chef's take on the famous Dal Bukhara. Leave room for their rich sweets: Stuffed Kala Jamun, Lacchedar Rabadi, Pista Kulfi Faluda, Kesar Phirni or Rasmalai, which are all excellent and a delight for those with a love for desserts.
