El Atrio

On Plaza Foch

About

Located on the second floor of a building overlooking Plaza Foch, this understated and elegant little restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem. The menu features a long list of creative dishes. I highly recommend the Ostrich San Luis, which is slow braised in a tamarind and cream sauce and served over egg noodles. Most of the dishes are named after a Catholic saint. The sea bass Santa María is prepared in a ginger and coconut sauce, and served over quinoa. For lighter fare, there are sandwiches and pastas. When the weather accommodates, I suggest grabbing one of the outdoor tables on the balcony overlooking the Plaza, although you won't go wrong inside, which has seating on a couple of levels, with soft lighting, plush furnishings and decor, and windows all around.
