Elimelech

35 Wolfson Cuisines: European

About

On the edge of the working class Florentine neighbrhood, this is one of those places that, unless you are a local, you'd happen upon only by good fortune. The pub and restaurant need not go to great lengths to promote itself, as it has been in the neighborhood since 1936, and is a local institution. Reflecting its origins, the fare is East European Jewish soul food: cholent, smoked herring, kishke, breust (fortunately the menu is translated into English) and the like. The establishment also boasts an exceptionally well-poured draught beer. It has a lively local clientele, quality dishes, and very reasonable prices.
