The Financial District is home to many banks and financial institutions, with the most prominent buildings being the UOB Plaza and OUB Centre along Boat Quay, both skyrocketing to the maximum permissible height of 280 meters (918.6 feet). Nearby at the mouth of the Singapore River is The Fullerton Singapore, exemplifying the Art Deco style that once dominated the district. In the midst of the towering buildings is a thriving food center, the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market, which occupies the site of the first municipal market in Singapore.
