The Folk Dance Group Krakowiak of the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow was created in 1972. Members of the group are the Academy's students and graduates. Their artistic skills are practised and polished in three sections: ballet, instrumental and vocal. The Krakowiak has taken part in various Polish and international folk festivals winning numerous awards, with critics heaping praise. It has given concerts in Greece, France, Holland, Germany, Turkey and Latvia. The group's principal aim is to promote Polish folk art: dances, melodies and country songs.
