Freycinet Marine Farm, Coles Bay

About

The sales room is open every day from 9am until 5pm, offering freshly harvested mussels, oysters and local Tasmanian Rock lobster for sale. Sit at one of the picnic tables or enjoy lunch on one of the coastal beaches. Tasmanian wine and beer is also available from the sales room.

The farm is made up of six different growing regions totaling just less than 185 acres and is a mixture of estuarine and fully marine growing areas. The estuarine areas are in the Great Swanport river estuary. The marine zones are offshore from the Freycinet National Park and are open to the Southern Ocean to the south.

Cool clean water forms the basis of the farm. The water is pure and therefore so are the oysters. In fact, you can taste the clean waters of Tasmanias east coast with every oyster that passes your palate. The farm grows Pacific Oysters in the estuarine areas and Tasmanian Blue Mussels in the fully marine areas.
