FGA was birthed in 1979 in the home of Dr & Mrs Koh Eng Kiat. The late Dr Koh Eng Kiat was a lecturer at the University of Malaya, and he together with his brother-in-law, Mr Ang Chui Lai and several other Christians who had come into the charismatic experience, gathered together weekly for prayer and worship after they were no longer accepted in their denominational churches. Within a short time, it became evident that God was leading them to start a new church in which the full gospel could be preached without restraint.
