Garnisons Kirke

Sankt Annæ Plads 4

About

Located close to the Amalienborg (Residence Of The Royal House), formerly a military church, the Garrison Church (Garnisons Kirke) is rooted deep in history, and is an architectural marvel standing tall in Sankt Anna Place. The towers of the church were constructed using wood and brick and one of them carries a huge tower clock. The facade looks beautiful with iron windows in true Roman architecture. From within, there is a vaulted ceiling with drawings on the wall, a Crypt with Benzonske Sarcophagi, lovey dazzling chandeliers and a magnificent Altar transferred from the Sophie Amalienborgs Kapel. Housed here is also a very old organ, used during services and a beautiful Baptismal Font. Apart from the regular services, the church is also actively involved in playing host to music concerts, social gatherings and other community meetings.
