The Glen Waverley Golf Course was opened in 1964 with nine holes and one bunker. Golfers would place a ball in a race and wait their turn to hit off. The course was expanded to fourteen holes in 1967 and then eighteen holes in 1970. Course operations were run from a small kiosk on the hill. In 1981 Waverley Council built a new kiosk and pro shop on the present site.
