Overlooking the city of Cairo from the Citadel, Gohara Palace ("Jewel Palace" in Arabic) was where Muhammad Ali and his successors received foreign dignitaries and other guests. The museum preserves some historic furniture in the throne room and a bedroom, and portraits of the political players of the era line the walls. Labels are in Arabic and English. HOURS OF OPERATION: Open daily, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM TICKET COST: Included in general admission to the Citadel LOCATION: The Citadel, Cairo DIRECTIONS: BY BUS: Bus numbers 174 and 173 stop at Midan Salah ad-Din, in front of the Citadel BY TAXI: Ask for "al-a'-ah" The museum is not wheelchair accessible Guides are not provided.
