Originally established in 1750 and it feels as if the fundamentals haven’t changed too much since then. Moira and Miriam Grogan are your hosts and they preside over a wonderfully atmospheric traditional family pub and restaurant.Through the small door entrance you are struck by the character and charm of the bar. The cosy front bar is divided in the traditional manner and has a lovely open fire, flag floor and a mixture of wood and brass furnishing. As you round the corner to the main restaurant there is another large open fire wide enough to accommodate Santa Claus.The menu is varied and very good value and specialities include steaks and seafood dishes. Each dish has been imaginatively created; there is a sufficient choice to accommodate all tastes. A good value menu is available from 4pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday, 4pm to 8pm Sunday and bank holiday Mondays. Kids Menu available also.Two course €19.95Three courses €24.95Restaurant is open from 12 to 9pm Monday to Saturday, 12 to 8pm Sundays and bank holiday Mondays.Traditional celli music is played each Friday night, three generations of the same talented family play and wander musicians are always welcome.Restaurant is closed 24, 25 and 26 December.We are open January 1st.Bar is closed Christmas day and Good Friday.
