About

Even if you're not staying here , it's worth coming for a meal. There's an elegant dining room in the old hacienda building, but I prefer the tables set on the veranda and patio of the central courtyard with its beautiful central fountain. The menu is far more refined than anything else you'll find in or around Ibarra. The Chorlavi trout comes in a rich cream sauce, while the carne colorado is a spicy beef stew served with llapingachos (potato and cheese patties) and mote (hominy). The cuy de hacienda (guinea pig) is a house specialty, and portions range from filling to huge. On weekends and holidays, local Andean bands accompany most lunches and dinners.
