Launched in 1869, the Kunsthalle is home to centuries worth of works of art, along with masterpieces by such legendary painters as Friedrich, Liebermann, Manet, and Munch. A separate contemporary classics section holds a set of gems, deemed as one of the most significant collections in the country, and most of which are made by some of the much-celebrated 20th century German art movements like the Blue Rider and Brücke groups.
