Built by Theiss Constructions at a cost of $65 million, the multi purpose arena was completed in 2000. Hisense Arena extended Melbourne Park and its capacity to handle ever increasing tennis crowds, whilst also satisfying demand for another flexible multi purpose venue. This state-of-the-art indoor-outdoor facility can host a variety of sports, including basketball, tennis, boxing, gymnastics, dancesports and cycling in its own velodrome. Venue features include fully retractable roof, 10 minutes to close. Dynamic seating configurations, raise-able, retractable, and removable, raising the seats exposes the world class cycling velodrome. It has a larger floor area than Rod Laver Arena, steeper seating rake, allows patrons at the very top to feel like they're right in the action,They also have corporate suites and function rooms. Access to the Arena for patrons with limited mobility is via Olympic Boulevard or the Hisense Arena tram stop. Ramps provide access throughout the site and to turnstile entries at Hisense Arena.A short term drop-off area is located in the front of Hisense ArenaAll turnstile entries have an accessible entry to accommodate wheelchair or special needs access.Lifts one, two, three and four facilitate movement between each level of the Arena. Accessible and Special Needs Tickets and SeatingPre-booked tickets for mobility impaired or special needs patrons is done directly through the Melbourne Park Box Office please contact the Hisense team for more details.Wheelchair accessible seating bays allows for a wheelchair space with an adjacent companion seat. Accessible toilets (larger wider cubicle with door opening outwards, are located throughout the Arena. Accessible Parking (subject to availability) is booked through Ticketek on the special needs hotline.All accessible parking will now be charged in advance by Ticketek, which requires payment at the time of booking.
