About

Discover the exhilarating and fascinating Hook Peninsula with Hook Head Safaris. Cross the majestic River Suir in a real safari jeep by ferry and enjoy the ‘craic’ with friendly and fun local guides. The unique commentary and insight from local guides provide depth and understanding of the history of the beautiful landscape whose uniqueness is due in no small part to some of the early visitors from across the seas: the Celts, Vikings and Normans.Safari highlights include the river drive and ferry journey across the Suir River, as well visits to Ballyhack Castle and Duncannon Fort. This is followed by a tour of the local Lighthouse, a cliff walk to Slade, and a coastal drive around the Peninsula. Visitors also get an opportunity to grab some coffee or go craft shopping and are given a guide to Tintern Abbey and its surrounds. In the early months of the year it is also possible to experience a once in a lifetime chance to see whales off Hook Head.To ensure the trip is as enjoyable as possible, visitors are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes, a light rain jacket, water for those crazy hot days, a camera, their best singing voice and a sense of humour!
