In a flat here lived the family of Juliusz Kydryński, a friend of Wojtyła's from his Polish studies. It was here that Karol Wojtyła stayed for a few months after a difficult period following the death of his father. He frequently returned to the place and time with his recollections: "it was then that the Kydryński family gave me much care, and I found their friendship of great assistance." (quoted from: John Paul II, Autobiografia, Wydawnictwo Literackie, Kraków 2005).
