House of Souls

Vestergade 3 Cuisines: American

About

If you have a hunger for real Southern American food, a few minutes walk from the Town Hall Square will take you to House Of Souls. One of the few restaurants in Copenhagen that serves authentic Cajun food. Souls's basement also hosts atmospheric funk on most days of the week. The restaurant is charming and has quite a Southern, Cajun atmosphere. The room has high, white wood wainscoting and holds 83 customers all munching Jambalaya. Check out the picture of beautiful American athlete Florence Griffith Joiner. The cooking is in real Cajun style, a wonderful fusion of African, French, Spanish and American cooking traditions. You can get breakfast/brunch as well as lunch and dinner here. Many standard dishes are on the menu. If you haven't tried the Seafood Gumbo yet, this is the time to do so. It is a powerful soup with different kinds of seafood. The chef from Barbados also makes Bajan Beef (tenderloin of calf with Norway lobsters and a Cuban salsa). Even the ! desserts are true to the Cajun style, for instance the homemade coconut ice cream with stewed fruit, marinated in rum, is to die for.
