Located in an old Dutch part of the city center, Huize Trivelli Heritage Resto & Patisserie is the perfect choice for diners who hanker for a taste of what Jakarta was really like all those years ago. The old building, with stained-glass windows, is resplendent with antique furnishings that create a unique ambiance. Family run, great care goes into preparing the dishes, most of which are old time Indonesian favorites adjusted to the Dutch palette, or otherwise known as Indische cuisine. The food is not too spicy although Sambal (chili paste) is served separately allowing diners to add as much heat as they want. There are plenty of traditional drinks as well including Bier Pletok a la Betawi, a ginger based drink that is very refreshing. Prices aren't too bad either and compare favorably to the modern style eateries you can find in the capital. – Martin Jenkins
