Idagunji

Idagunji is one of the popular places for Hindus, which is situated in Honnavar Taluka of Uttara Kannada District. Located at a distance of around 20 km from Murudeshwara, the site is visited by travellers for its famous Ganesha Temple. An idol of Ganesha holding Padma or Lotus and Modaka in his hands is enshrined in the temple.It is believed by the local people that Lord Ganesha resided at this place called Kunjaranya, which is now known as Idagunji. Moreover, it is also believed that Idagunji is a place of penance for ancient saints.
