Il Barone di Porta Romana

Via Romana, 123r Cuisines: Spanish

About

It is not easy to find somewhere to eat a good paella in a relaxing atmosphere. However, this restaurant, run by a Florentine with a passion for Spain, offers an excellent choice of Iberian cuisine. There's also flamenco dancing and live music. Begin with stuffed tapas and move onto criadilla madrileña (bull's testicles) or Valencian paella, which is the house speciality. Fish or different meats are cooked in a huge iron pan in front of the customers. Both the Iberian wines and the local ones are good. The interior design is very Spanish, with old fashioned wooden fittings, bright colors, candlelight and Spanish music in the background. In summer one can eat on a pleasant terrace which looks out over the Boboli Gardens.
