Jagalchi Market

About

South Korea's largest seafood market, Jagalchi (roughly translates to "Pebble Village") Market became mostly a fish market after the Korean War. Although you probably won't be buying any fish to take home with you, this is a great place to see a variety of seafood you may have never seen before (most active early morning and late afternoon) and one of the best places to eat fresh raw fish, straight from the tanks. Since most of the vendors are middle-aged women, they are called the jagalchi ajumma. The Jagalchi Festival is held here every October. Open to wholesalers daily from 2am to midnight; regular retail hours are 7am-9pm.
