Located in the small and ancient town of Osian in Jodhpur, the Jain Mahavira Temple is a significant pilgrimage centre for Jains. The temple was built in AD 775 by Pratihara King Vatsa in commemoration of Lord Mahavira, who was the 24th Jain Tirthankara. The temple, thronged by devotees year-round, boasts of a stunning structure that is made of red sandstone. The shrine is renowned for its exquisite carvings, which depict different stages of the life of Lord Neminath (22nd Jain Tirthankara).
