Jain Temple

Built possibly as far back as the 13th century, the Jain temple in Sulthan Bathery is a living memorial to the presence and influence of the Jains in Sulthan Bathery. A vibrant, growing community, the presence of Jain settlers lasted over 4 centuries beginning in 12th century when they had migrated to Sulthan Bathery. Carved entirely out of granite, strong influences of the Vijaynagar architectural style can be noticed. Set on a raised platform the elaborately and painstakingly carved pillars hold the temple's stone roof. Beautiful cornices along the top of the interior stone walls adorn the temple.
