This famous fort carved in pale yellow sandstone was built in 1156 by the founder of the town, Rawal Jaisal. The fort stands glimmering on Meru Hill with its enormous 99 bastions inviting you to step inside. Once you go in a mix of narrow lanes with beautiful sandstone walls and a mix of houses, small beauty parlors and other establishments greet you. People live inside this historic fort and go about their everyday life right amidst the ancient Royal Palace and beautiful Jain temples.
