When you don't know where to dine in or hang out in the city, head south to Jalan Kemang. Arrays of cafes and restaurants offering global cuisine are side-by-side with interior stores, funky bookstores and eclectic boutique hotels. Traffic can be difficult during weekend evenings but it's worth it. Must-sees are Payon for authentic local food in garden setting, boutique hotel Kemang Icon and its 707 boutique downstairs, interior store Toimoi, Casa café, famous for its cocktails, gallery-cum-restaurant Koi, and Papilion, the host of fine dining SHY, European pastries Huize van Wely and first-class boutiques. Kemang is where the ex-pats live but the locals also love.
