Jamia Masjid , situated few kilometres from Murudeshwara is one of the oldest mosque in the town. According to the inscription in the  Jamia Masjid , it was constructed in 851 Heigra. The inscription is written in Persian language dated back to 1447 on a marble slab and is still preserved in this masjid.The masjid has three floors along with a basement and can accommodate thousands of devotees at the same time.
