Jarun Lake

Zagreb, Croatia

About

This man-made lake 4km (2 1/2 miles) southwest of the center has something for everyone. There are cafes, bars, a white-tablecloth restaurant, a nude beach, sailing, jogging, bike paths, and much more. The beaches are pebble and the lakes are fed by the Sava and have pebble bottoms. In the summer, the city's bars and discos set up shop at Jarun and go well into the night, making it seem like Bourbon Street on the beach. You can get to the lake on tram no. 17 from Jelacic Trg and exit at Jarun. Tip: You can rent bikes at Jarun's entrance for 20kn ($4) per hour.
