Donegal company Just Kayak provides water-based activities and courses focussed on sea kayaking, open boating, white water kayaking, surf kayaking, gorge walking, river rafting, sailing, stand-up paddling, pier jumping and archery amongst others. Individuals, families and groups are catered for and options range from a quick hour-long session to more challenging outings.Originally based in Moville, Co Donegal, it now also operates from Ned’s Point in Buncrana. Courses and activities take place throughout the North-West and range from half-day skills courses to full day guided sea kayaking trips along the scenic North-West coastline with its wealth of scenery and wildlife. Or there’s the option of surf kayaking the glassy waves at Donegal’s unspoilt beaches or canoeing down tranquil waterways and following archaeological heritage trails.From October to April river trips are available for everyone from beginners to experienced paddlers. These trips involve a lot of learning and fun, and you will see a lot of natural beauty which can often go unnoticed along the banks of our local rivers. White-water trips visit Donegal, Derry, Leitrim or the Sperrin Mountains. Courses and workshops include those focussing on rolling, rescues and basic strokesJust Kayak also runs multi-day outings including its two-day Island Camping Trip which is ideal for families or groups of friends. Or parents might be interested in three-day or week long summer camps which cater for juniors. There is also the chance to explore the River Foyle and the Foyle Estuary using on of the clipper canoes which seats 14 adults or 17 children. Equipment is provided including kayaks, canoes, wetsuits and all protective clothing, as well as full changing facilities with showers. Group rates are available. And when you’re finished having fun on the water, this area of Donegal has plenty on offer. The Inishowen Peninsula has many walking and cycling trails for those who want to keep active. Divers are spoiled for choice too with many wrecks including ocean liners and German U-boats waiting to be explored. And if you’re a nature lover, why not check out the basking shark hotspot of Malin Head. A great range of accommodation is also on offer, from small family run bed and breakfasts to larger hotels.
